After having given an outrageous report on the planet Venus, complete w/ paper-mache planet w/ stuffing & chicken wire, my beloved 3rd grade teacher told me, "Lovely report, Shannon, but sometimes it's best to remember KISS, "Keep It Simple, Stupid" and we headed en-mass to lunch. I was devastated. It wasn't until years later when I'd heard the phrase again that I realized she hadn't, in fact, called me a moron in front of my classmates. *s*

Childhood misinterpretation
I used to despise Pat Benatar because she had a song called "Hell is for Children". I refused to listen to it, assuming it was about how much she hated children. Being a tremendous fan of her music, I eventually got her greatest hits album and heard the song, and was floored by my misinterpretation.

I've found that the only thing kids seem to lack in philosophical conversation is life experience and context. That aside, they often have a much clearer perception of reality than my "adult" (I so can't say that without the quotes, GRiN) ass.

Always had a hard time with that one when it comes to the big things... a complex life is so fun!
