Cool!

I want to find more detail about this, though. They say that the two sails were deployed, and then that the rocket splashed down in the Pacific, but don't say anything about the ultimate fate of those sails. Given how quickly they were deployed, I can't help but think that this was just a matter of testing the deployment mechanisms -- at 100 seconds after launch, that's almost certainly suborbital velocities, so I can only presume that each sail was deployed and then jettisoned.

Still, this opens the way for more extensive testing, hopefully including some sort of spacecraft being lifted out of earth-orbit by sails. :)

Hey K,

You still in Fremont? Coffee, pool?

Sure. Do I remember that you also play chess?

Email me at burgundy underscore sea at hotmail dot com and I'll send along my phone number and get yours? I check it about once a week (less connected right now, but getting more done!).
