Switching to dial up when I move. For whatever reason, Comcast is even more expensive in Fremont than on Capitol Hill, and I wasn't happy with Qwest's DSL service the last time I used it for its monthly price. So, instead, I'm going to spend ~$13 on a land line and a bit of money on a dialup/ISP.

Local ISP/dialup provider recommendations?

I thought with the $12 deal you had to pay by the minute for calls where the $20 deal all local calls were unlimited.

Go with No Charge. It's free. Amanda used it before getting DSL and I would have used it if I decided to keep my land line.

Re: Hmm...
I had the $12 deal back on Mercer Island, and I used it for work dial-up all the time. No per minute charge. I'll have to verify with Qwest, but nothing in the contract said anything about fees beyond the monthly fee.

How does No Charge make any money?

Re: Hmm...
No Charge costs $10 per customer service call--and maybe they have ads (but I don't know the latter).

p.s. I'm getting my bike fixed up right now, so I'm only going to be a few minutes bike ride away from you :) Once I'm moved, I'd love to get together in Wallingford or Fremont for tea or something, if you're game.

There is a lovely teahouse on 45th close to the Washington Mutual. I don't know if you are a sushi eater, but our new favorite place is Blue C Sushi in Fremont. It's tons of fun!

I do have to admit that I spend most weekends on Capitol Hill but will make it to Wallingford if I have plans :)

I am SO sick of dialup, but if you've gotta get it, Netzero's cheaper & the times I've used the paid version their connection speeds are great, plus no ads. Its been awhile, so hopefully they haven't changed.

*weeps piteous tears & gnashes teeth in your honour* You're going from cable to dialup? Are you sure?
Kburgunder on June 29th, 2004 05:11 pm (UTC)
No need for high speed right now, and it'll save me ~$50/mo.

Hokay...you seem to be at peace w/ your decision...but I've also heard good things about NetZero, tho' never personally used it...might check in that direction? *shrugs*

Hey Lady, it's nice seeing you around more lately. We've never really had much of a chance to talk, but I hope to be able to con you into attending my housewarming party when I move into my new place.

I'm spying on your LJ to see what my chances are of running into you again. ;)
