Conscious Consumerism
Sprint PCS,

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my inquiry and let me know that Sprint PCS does not offer domestic partner insurance to its employees.

Please pass the following information on to Sprint PCS CEO & Board of Directors.

I have been a loyal Sprint PCS customer for 5+ years. I have been very satisfied with customer service and signal performance. My Qualcomm was still in perfect functioning condition when I discontinued my account with Sprint PCS 2 months ago.

Why did I leave Sprint PCS?

In 2005, Kansas voted to ban gay marriage and amend the state constitution. I live in Seattle now, but I'm originally from Kansas where I began my service with Sprint PCS. I was so embarassed and disgusted by the people of the state I was born and raised in that I immediately set out to respond as best I could as a non-resident. I promised myself I would vote with my money - by not supporting businesses in anti-gay, anti-separation-of-church-and-state regions. I did my research.

I read on gay.com that Sprint PCS has a gay-friendly work environment. I was very happy to read that. However, when I discovered that Sprint PCS does not offer domestic partner insurance, and further learned that Cingular and T-Mobile not only do (including same sex domestic partners), but have also made efforts to support gay equality rights, I was a bit heart broken. I have been very happy with Sprint PCS.

I am now with Cingular and their line quality is not nearly what Sprint PCS has to offer. I would be very happy to return to Sprint PCS but here is what I ask before I would feel comfortable doing so:

You are headquartered in a very regressive state with many oppressed gay people. You would be doing a great, ethical and wonderful thing by including gay couples in your family plan promotions as T-Mobile has, and above all, offering domestic partner insurance - to opposite or same sex partners - to your salaried employees. Now that there is a state amendment permanently banning equal marriage to gays, it's up to individuals and businesses to undo this terrible wrong and provide a life line to gay working class families in Kansas and Missouri. If Sprint PCS includes progressive company policies as they move forward, I would be proud and happy to return to Sprint PCS' service.

Thank you for your time.
