I feel compelled to say it...
Britney, you look great. Don't worry about it.

Not really a fan of Britney, never have been, and all this hoopla about her shaved noggin is amusing the hell out of me.

Thing is...I found one photo where she looks pretty hot, actually: http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2007/02/20/0220webfpp_britney,0.jpg
But I also found one photo where her head looks misshapen and creepy: http://www.saharasamay.com/Images/FullStory/britneynew.jpg

Which do I trust? And...why should I care? ;)

I just wanted to counterbalance the outcry of "she looks bad". I think she looks fine. Just putting the energy out there into the world. I think it's bullshit that anyone gets to comment or that there's even pictures up, hate the level of indecency and fucking rude people display towards celebrities as if they have some inhuman super power to deflect insults... feh.

See, the thing is, if I were a celebrity the very first thing I'd do is check my ego at the door. I've spent most of my life simply steeped in pop culture; I know how the public treats celebs. I'd figure it was the price of admission.

That said, it is kinna rude. No non-celeb would put up with that kinna crap. Then again...well, certainly the seagoth gossip mill runs like a high school gossip mill; maybe we do put up with it on a smaller scale.

In all honesty, I wish Britney would go away...and that's as much about her music as it is about the hype. So the real question I have to be asking myself is, how would I feel if it were a celebrity I actually do care about...?
Well, I admit I have to stamp pretty hard on my temper when someone disses George Lucas. Yeah...you're right; people need to knock that crap off!

For the Britney specific stuff, it seems like she's trying reboot and I hope she has success with that.

There's a small number of celebs I really care about... like really small. Rollins. Ani Difranco. Neil Gaiman. Terry Pratchett. Betty Dodson. Ursula K. Le Guin. Bruce Willis. Maybe Kevin Smith. Maybe Tori Amos. Huge absence of actors, I note ... I'll give Bill Murray a strong maybe. Most of the rest of the complete strangers I care about are authors of obscure ancient Mediterranean books O:> Or dead - like Alice Kober, Michael Ventris, Alexander Pope...

Trying to think of celebs I'd cry about if they died... not even sure I'd cry about many of the people on the list, though I'd definitely feel the sadness and emptiness of them never generating another new word or thought.

There've been a number of actors who've cacked it where I felt a tiny piece of me died with them, but I've never cried over one.
Being as movie oriented as I am, my list of celebs does tend toward actors and directors. There's some authors in there. I flat guarantee that I'll cry if Marie Fredricksson or Per Gessle ever up and die on me.

As for Britney, well...the rumor is less about reboot and more about breakdown. But I think time is going to have to tell on that one. If reboot, well...it won't be the first time someone who's art I've loathed turned into an artist I actually liked, but it's going to take a lot for her to remake herself into something that makes me nod my head to the rhythm.

.oO( She is totally hot. I would probably take a razor to that scalp to finish off the stubble, then take a scoop of silicone lube (pjur eros or ID velvet, same thing) and just gliide all over her head, while she... )Oo.

Er. Where was I. That was probably Tao speaking out of you, yes? Positive attitudes and such. I don't know, myself. I think she was better off with the hair.

I find her new look very aesthetically appealing, but honestly, it's tough for me to watch. She's obviously totally melting down and while there's only so much sympathy I can have for someone who actively seeks to be a celebrity, I still find it sad. Mostly for her kids.
