Tao of the Day
Whenever you have truth it must be given with love,
or the message and the messenger will be rejected.

Duuuude. So trying to work on that! It's extremely 180 degrees from where I currently am. Makes me picture those men in the world weightlifting competitions trying to pick up then heave end-over-end these humongous cabers (logs? concrete-y things??).

Maybe it's something I'll be able to better accomplish when I'm old. The rut's worn so deep now, it's either going to take something catastrophic to forcefully eject me from this detrimental in-yer-face truth-telling...or it's just gonna take YEARS of concentrated effort.

I've only managed to change anything major with YEARS of concentrated effort, which makes being self-aware a total raging pain in the ass sometimes.

"Just a spoon full of sugar..." I love this concept and it's something I try to live by. I still suck at it sometimes and I'm ready for a class!

Also love the corrolaries (that we've discussed) about presenting the truth in a style that people will hear so they don't reject it, such trying to understand the other person's perspective and not trying to get them to switch to a polar opposite of their values all in one conversation.

I think you are a great example of someone who usually accomplishes this effectively. Lauren is also really good at it.

I agree about 5/6-heartedly. I still maintain a big stick is the way to deal with the combination of ego and stupidity.
