I almost cried at the injustice behind the power of that pun. Terrible terrible day! (lol)

The universe started in 1970. Anyone claiming to be over 38 is lying about their age.

Apparently, in thirty years Unix time will exceed 32 bits in many versions, which may break some 30-year loan software in use today.

Yep. 2038 is, from a unix perspective, a much more significant event than Y2K was - but it doesn't quite have the "odometer rolling over" simplicity, or the publicity, to really scare the general public. Yet.
Brettwakko on January 29th, 2008 02:03 am (UTC)
Bah. If anyone is still using 32-bit code in 30 years, they deserve everything they get.

I can't specifically disagree with the 'deserves what they get' portion... but you have to remember we live in a world that still has important, live, running fortran 77 code in it. Sadly, thirty years has some precedent.

Oh, I know. I just figure that hitting that limitation once is fine, hitting it twice in a single generation is allowing too many blithering idiots to man the helm.

Allowing too many blithering idiots to man the helm?

I haven't come up with a way to stop them yet.

Tomorrow does not look good either. :)
