"I used to wait for a sign, she said, before I did anything. Then one night I had a dream & an angel in black tights came to me & said, you can start any time now, & then I asked is this a sign? & the angel started laughing & I woke up. Now, I think the whole world is filled with signs, but if there's no laughter, I know they're not for me."
-- Brian Andreas

(My .sig file is up to almost half a meg . . . but the *laughter* above reminded me of this one.)

That isn't the Tao of the Day? I think it's the perfect Tao of the Day.

"Some of you say 'Joy is greater than sorrow,' and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."
But I say unto yuo, they are inseparable.
Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon yuor bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.
Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.
When the treasure keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall."

Kahlil Gibran

Sail her don't sink her (this time).

But that's just the one that seems to ring true and frequently for me, lately.

Something I like from one of my favorite comics:

"My mom told me, it's better to trust people than to doubt them. She said that people aren't born with kind hearts. When we're born, all we have are desires for food and material things. Selfish instincts, I guess. But she said that kindness is something that grows inside of each person's body, but it's up to us to nurture that kindness in our hearts. That's why kindness is different for every person."
"We're all born with selfish desires, so we can all relate to those feelings in others. But kindness is something made individually by each person, so it's easy to misunderstand when others are trying to be kind to you."

Oh man, that rules.

I owe you an enormous hug.

If I'm in town this weekend, do you want to go to a fire performance up in Magnuson Park with me Saturday evening?

sculptruth on July 25th, 2008 07:45 pm (UTC)
Oh that's next weekend! I'm still hoping to go, but at this point fairly certain I won't be able to make it. :(

Oh! Ha! I'm dense :) I'll definitely be in town next weekend because I'm a big dork for the shiny Blue Angels. I hope I run into you there - The Todd from Neighbours says this is a wicked show above and beyond the usual fire performances.

Oh I know -- my friend is the Grande Orchestrator of the entire production. I'm very excited for her, and I've been trying to help promote it everywhere I can. I wish her the biggest success possible, because I know this is a dream come true for her!
